  • Help with scratch on mirror

Hey guys i am new to this forum but I really need some help. I just bought a new IS250 and I washed my car and my side mirror is all scratched up. All i did was use a 100% cotton towel and its ruined. I beleive the mirror is plastic and I wanted to know if anybody could recommend some solutions to clean it up? Does anybody know if Scratch-X will work? Thanks

If it's painted plactic (same color as the car), your in luck and Scratch X will help minimize/remove the scratch. If it's black plastic non-painted, there's not much you can do with it.

I'm talking about the actual mirror piece that is scratched.

If the mirror is in fact scratched and not just a laminate coating they forgot to take off or fibers from your towel giving the appearance of scratches.....I would go straight to the dealer. You purchased a quality car and expect quality parts, not a mirror that scratches on its first cleaning.

I just called Lexus and found out that the Mirror is Glass, does that change anything?

I hope when you say all you used was a 100% cotton towel that you used soapy water or glass cleaner in addition and didn't wipe it down dry. Either way you can always try to have them replace it.
