  • Can I try this combination?

Is there any reason why I couldn't use these products together?

    DAY 1
    1. Wash (DC) and dry
    2. ColorX (instead of DC #1, unless it's not a good idea)

    DAY 2
    1. QD to remove dust (parked in a carport)
    2. DC #2 polish
    3. GC paste wax, one coat.

    DAY 3
    1. QD the dust again
    2. One more thin coat of wax, (either GC or NXT as I have both on hand, but find the NXT very hard to remove compared to the GC)

Maintain with washing and QD spray wax.

My biggest concern is if it's ok to use DC #2 polish after the ColorX, since I'm substituting ColorX in place of DC1.

Sounds ok to me. The Meguiar's line is designed to be interchangeable. This allows the user to evaluate the surface to determine what products are needed to correct their specific surface flaws and/or defects. I've used DC1 then topped with NXT then #26. If you have the time required, you've put together a great strategy.

One idea though is to do one test area with ColorX then GC skipping the DC2 step and one area with the original plan to see if you like one better than the other. You might save a step if ColorX and GC give you the look you desire.

    Good luck

Well, overall, there is no reason why you cant, but it does give me a few questions...

      1. Are you trying to use ColorX to speed things up? If so, 3 days isnt much of a speeding up?

      2. Again, if you are trying to speed things up, then doing the clean/polish/wax/wax isnt cutting steps to speed things up?

You might have another goal in mind, which is perfectly ok, but that is what came to my mind.

You will certainly be ok with ColorX + Wax, or ColorX + Wax + Wax, or ColorX + Polish + Wax + Wax. Just have to see which routine fits your goals.

Ooooo, no! Can't skip the DC#2 polish, as that's the only product (of all that I listed) that I've not used and am dying to try out most of all!!

No, the point of using ColorX instead of DC#1 is not to speed things up for me or save any time. I just have alot of very, very fine scratches accumulating on the hood and trunk areas and I heard it said that ColorX was a little "stronger" than DC1, so I thought it might help my situation more.

            It's my estimation that...

ColorX will leave a cleaned and protected surface behind.

Since ColorX is a cleaner/wax it doesn't do one better than the other. Meaning it won't clean or protect as well as separate cleaner and wax could.

Adding polish after ColorX should enhance the work performed by the ColorX and not negate it.

Topping with GC will really add a wetness to the paint. Especially dark colors. What color are you dealing with anyway?

Topping again with NXT...? I have to rethink that. I would top with NXT then GC myself. That's what I did, NXT as the base then added GC to enhance. Either way you should be golden.

You can use ColorX as a paint cleaner.

You can apply the Deep Crystal Polish after you've applied ColorX as your polish.

You can then apply the Gold Class Wax.

I've used ColorX for its cleaning and oxidation removal properties more so than for swirl removal.

Give it a try and post some pics. I'd like to see what Colorx can do to minor swirls.

Someone posted a pic a while ago of a wing that was washed, then ColorX and ScratchX side by side I think. Cant seem to find the post myself.
