  • First Wax

I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I would like to keep this car looking new for many years. I would really like a deep wet looking shine that is also durable. Being that this is a brand new car (never waxed) what you recomend to start off with? Should I use a series of products to get what I'm looking for? Thank You in Advance.

First, you will want to give these couple links a good reading and understanding, so you know the basic ideas for now and the future: I presume you are working by hand for now...

      Step 1 Wash

      Step 2 Clean

Now, as far as what products to use, I am sure you noticed there are lots and lots of options. But here is two basic processes that I have been using on my car. My car is a daily driver, and parked outside, so there is a bit of a limit to the time I will spend on it, which is why I have a longer and shorter detail process.

Here is the longer one I do once or twice a year:

      1. Wash - Nxt or Gold Class washes are great. And wash using the 2-bucket system, and good quality sponges/towels of course.

      2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit

      3. Clean - Deep Crystal (DC) Step #1 Paint Cleaner

      4. Polish - DC#2 Polish

      5. Wax - You have many choices here, Nxt and Gold Class would be too popular ones to start off with. Remember 2 thin coats is best

      6. Maintain - After future washings, you can follow up with a quick detil spray or a spray wax.

Here is the shorter one, that I do more often:

      1. Wash - as above

      2. Clay - as above

      3. ColorX - This is a great cleaner/wax

      4. Wax - Again, lots of choices. Nxt, Gold Class, etc are all fine.

I hope that gives you some product ideas, but keep asking away till you have it figured out.
