  • HELP! Repairing heavy stains on polished wheels

So I picked up a set of polished wheeks that were neglected by the previous owner.
I have heavy staining from what looks to be brake fluid and also fading from what seemed to be a Scotch-Brite pad...ouch.

Im just looking for any solutions (if any) to revive these poor souls.

GTbrad: it depends on how badly the wheels are, condition-wise. You might have to start with an abrasive polish and cotton buffing wheel (drill attachment) and work your way to the NXT Metal Polysh.

I usually reserve NXT as my last step in metal polishing because it has very little/no abrasvie content and is more to get the wheels to a mirror finish (see picture below). I use the buffing wheel and finish with NXT Metal, then apply a coat of #21 for some protection. These wheels are on my Mach 1.

Hope that helps. Post some pics of the condition and we can make some decent determinations as to process.

I think you're right, they're pretty stained, I was going to try using #83 DACP with a foam buffing wheel on my drill, I'm just wondering if it will be effective...guess I'll try it tonight!
