I can also appreciate the feeling that you might be having when looking at all of these different product lines, and the confusion that they may cause. My best explanation would be that Meguiars, a very trusted and experienced company, recognizes that everyone has different and special needs for their own vehicles. To these needs, they have spent lots of time and effort to produce several different product offerings, with the hope of allowing people to pick out the products that best suit their needs and/or preferences. Herein lies the root of many people's question, "Why so many products/which is the best???"

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to this question. All you can do is follow the basic 5-step guideline listed above, and experiment with different products using this guideline. I know that this takes alot of time, effort, and money; but I would also reply that all good things are worth waiting for. You can stick to the consumer line products now, as they are easy to find, generally easy to apply/use, and produce excellent results for most people.

My suggestion would be to continue reading on this forum, esp. the writeups listed in the "List 'O Links", which you can do a search for and find easily. Then, by the time your car is fixed, you'll be ready to go to work.

One question, as I don't think I've seen it yet, what color is your car??

Also, I hope that you've not had a bad impression of this forum so far, as this is one of the friendliest places you'll find on the net. There are alot of good people that will do alot to really help you when you have a question or product concern.

Fianlly, someone who understands. I will continue to search the forum and learn more. I haven't had a bad impression with the forum inparticular, just maybe a little with some of the people.

By the way, my car is Silver.

      Thank You!

I use NXT wash, Quik Clay,Scratch X, DC1, DC2 and NXT wax on my black TT and it looks great.

However, out of curiosity I've just ordered some #7 and #21 to try out so next time I've give it a clean I'll try an post some feedback!

Incidentally, if you're counting the pennies as a student I'm absolutely certain you would not be wasting your money on the DC/NXT combination I listed above. If I were you that's what I would start out with then experiment as you gained more experience.

It's not that people on here don't understand your situation or want to help you out. The fact is you can buy $5000 worth of detailing products, or $50 worth, and if you don't use them properly with the right technique, you won't get the results you are looking for.

I know you are all trying to help out that's why you are answering my thread.

I was asking about the technique in another thread and I sort of got scolded for asking questions. My car must have 7 layers od DC3 on it because I've been trying to figure out how to apply wax correctly. Boy that sounded stupid, but I actualy had never applied wax by myself until about a week and a half ago. Now I want to try another and I'm starting to get an idea of which ones to buy.

              Thanks,
I went out to buy some products and my local kragen was out of NXT wash so i bought Gold Class. I also bought a wash mit, towels, applicators, Quik Clay, and I already had the deep crystal system so I'll just use those before I buy some more.

              Thank You Again!
