cleaning wheels

My current process to clean wheels is to first spray the wheels with Castrol Super Clean and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then I spray with the hose and wash with a mitt. This works, but is very time consuming especially if the wheel is dirty from brake dust. And if I clean around the lug nuts, it can easily add another 10-15 minutes per wheel. Any suggested short cuts?

Well, I just get the Multi-Piece Wheel Cleaner and the Wheel Face Brush and the Spoke Brush.

I rinse the wheel off, spray on the cleaner, let it sit for a few seconds, then agitate with the brushes, then rinse off. I also have a soft toothbrush for the tight corners and a rag for behind the spokes every once in a while.

There are stronger cleaners to deal with really really caked on stuff like Wheel Brightener, but Multi-Piece is one of the safest. Up to you if you want to go more agressive.

I just got both of those brushes. I guess the time-consuming part is around the lug nuts.

One thing I might mention... Not sure I would leave a product sit on my wheels that long for fear of damaging them even more so if its not specifically designed to be used on wheels. Compare to wheel cleaners that you only let sit for 15 seconds or so... Just don't want you to damage your wheels.

Granted my car doesnt get caked on anything of course, but between spraying the cleaner in, then pressing the wheel face brush down in to agitate, it seems to get everything.

I guess you could maybe try the slide-lock brush as well, though I think it would be the same technique.
