  • applying colorX with g100... what pad??

What pad should i use to apply colorX ?? yellow ? or just the pad i'd use to apply tech wax? also should the entire car be done and then let it dry to pass the swipe test then removed? I haven't used colorX yet and didn't know if i'd use it exactly as i would tech wax or not. Thanks guys!

ColorX is a cleaner wax, so you would do the entire car, then let it dry, and remove like a regular wax.

The pad choice is a bit more interesting. If you are just working on an already very good surface, with no real defects to remove, you could use the 9006 pad. If you are working on paint that needs more cleaning ability, then you would use the 8006 pad.

SEVEN Cars in one day?!?!? What procedure are you going to be using on these 7 cars to be doing them all in one day?

And if I was going to use colorX with a machine and pad I would definitely use a 8006 pad.

I should say you could use the 8006 pad for everything, without any problems.

I am just sating the 9006 pad leaves a little more refined of a finish, so you could take advantage of that if you wanted on cars in great condition already.

for me to do 7 cars i'm having two friends help out.. I'll be paying them about 10 bux an hour plus lunch.. they are jobless so that works for them ;] we should be able to get 7 cars done in 12 hours at least... but i'm hoping sooner.. we're just going to be doing basic details using colorX and clay bar as well.

bene vita, let me verify with the owner that we will have all cars to work on.... if we will have all cars to work on tomorrow, you will be invited to help us out, that would be great.... should i keep you in mind for future projects as well?? Let me know...... lunch will be anything we can find in the local area that doesn't take too much of the day. :] The job is going to be in Laguna Beach by the way. Just last weekend I did a neglected white 1991 Miata:
                      wash and dry
                      clay
                      Colorx and an 8006 pad.

Was amazed at the improvement; very dramatic. Did not have a camera handy for before and afters.

Plan to add a coat or two of NXT wax next time around.
