  • Couldn't believe my eyes

Just wanted to share my success with everyone who is determined to get that deep deep shine removing all the spider webs and results never experienced before now.

In an earlier post I got a tip from Tim who posted a picture of a shine I never thought existed. When I inquired he responded with a three-step process. I followed this tip and wow wow wow, it was just the results I expected from other products but could never get there. Thanks to Tim and Meguiar's great products let me present my best so far.

    Thanks Tim

    Rick

P.S. I tried to post one here but wasn't successful, but hey, they are posted in the gallery.

Lolz, I just went out and brought $600 worth or detailing equipment for detailing motorcycles and my wife piped up and wanted me to do her car.....the was went really well until I used the gold class bug and tar remover....now most of the bar is white.
Slowly getting it of after 3 washes and claying.../cry (my first car and it had to be my wifes that stuffed up). Besides that everything else went great and I got most of the swirls out by hand and her car is now shinning like a mirror. All we need now is for the police to pull us over for a traffic hazzard or something with the way the sun refleces of it.

Took the liberty to post one of your pics:

        Very nice shine

Here is a helpful thread about picture posting: Step-by-Step Picture-Posting HOW TO

        What products did you use?

            Three step process and wow!!!

Thanks for your replies. Ok here is what should be not secret and want to share it with everyone who really cares.

            As mentioned before, in a prior post I wanted to know how Tim's truck looked so goooooood. I didn't get the same results using all the other products all of which were Meguiar's, and in his reply gave me the products he used. So I dumped everything I use to use and here was the 3-step process he suggested;

            1. Dual Action Clean/Polish #83. It’s very important to only work small sections at a time then wipe off immediately. Once the entire surface is completed I went to the next step. I need to also mention I use an aggressive pad on my PC 7424 polisher.

2 Speed Glaze #80. Again working each section at a time until nearly dry then wiping off excess immediately. I used a medium pad on my PC 7424 polisher. Once all the painted surfaces were completed I went to the final step.

            3. Synthetic Sealant #21. Here it is the final and wow what a deep shine difference from another product used to date. I work a larger area then letting the product to thoroughly dry and wiped off using Meguiar's soft cloths, which was used in all the other steps. I did however use a separate cloth for each step. Once finished, stood back and enjoyed results never achieved before.

So there you have it. If you try this I know you will be amazed as I was. Good Luck.

                    A new challenge???

Wow Tim thats a long time but worth it I am sure. Believe me I have other work that keeps my weekends full.

Actually I always have detailing to perform especially with my 24' Sea Ray, which is next on the list. I am currently removing the old Sounder and Handheld GPS and installing a new Garmin 498, intrigrated sounder all in one. So, there are holes to fill, sand (7 grades of sand paper) then polish with another 3-step process, not to confuse with what is used on my painted surfaces, to obtain that original luster and shine. Working on the Gel Coat is timely and tedious but the end result with patience and diligence will produce exactly what is considered a factory finish.

It's very hot here and can only work short periods at a time , but hey it will get done.

                      Looks good!

I also do this process but I use either #83 DACP or #80

Then I move on to #82 SFP

                      and finish off with NXT

My bad. I didn't know you meant finishing steps when you said just three. I am still at a rudimentary level with this stuff, but my G-100 kit and video should be here on friday!

Your pictures are inspiring. Rock on!

                          xebola,

A picture is worth a thousand words, however the real deal cannot be expressed in words.

I have worked on many cars over the years using only Meguiar's products, "dating myself again", and can assure you experience speaks louder than advertisement can ever express. This process expressed earlier is the best so far unless someone out there can disclaim the results.

I can tell you that if you’re really wanting an outstanding finish, one thing is very important; make sure you use a DA or Dual Action Polisher with the correct pads and pressure. Anyone can achieve this but with patience and diligence.

I wish you well in your detailing experiences. I am not an expert but get expert advice here from those that have achieved results beyond belief.

Have fun and read the instructions carefully as every product use has different requirements for a successful result.

Thanks for the encouragement! I plan to study the video, practice on a scale and a few beaters before I try it on my new finish. I feel really lucky that I started reading this forum before I ever laid a hand on my new car. Hopefully I'll have some pics for the show-off section next month. A buddy of mine just got a new house with a six car garage with good lighting and AC.

My PC kit should be her tomorrow and I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve!

                            Regards

ps. I like the American flag in your reflection.
