  • ColorX & Oxidation

I've heard great things about ColorX.

I was currently trying to work an an oxidized hood and decided to use A12 Cleaner Wax to see how strong it really is. It's not that strong actually, but took away SOME oxidation, but VERY little.

A12 Cleaner Wax was somehow "absorbed" into the oxidation, so now the hood has white "worked in" traces on it.

Can ColorX get rid of this? I used ColorX too and same thing happened, is it being "absorbed"?

Until I get my ADS package (within a week most likely) with PC this is all I have.

    How old/oxidixed is it?

    Did you try claying first?

Maybe the best thing would be putting some #7 on first to try and remoisturize things a little before working on it.

I clayed the area I was working on. But #7 sounds like a good idea.

Just wait till you get your p/c and then try it with colorx and a 8006 pad, if that dont work try some #83....should make a huge difference, then doing it by hand.So i would just stop before you make matters worse.Iam sure it will be worth the wait .

I guess that would be the ideal thing to do, I just don't like the fact that it has to be driven with white marks on the hood. Waiting does sound like the bestt thing to do. Thanks guys.

The reason why the cleaner wax was absorbed into the paint is most likely that the paint is "dead." You can polish and wax the area, but most likely the area will fade back soon after. That being said, I have been able to bring back paint in the past by saturating the area several times with # 7, allowing it to soak into the paint and then repeating the process. Afterwards I would polish as usual and then wax. How much you can bring it back will depend on how dead the paint is, there may be nothing you can do.
              Good luck!
