    Seems the #80 gets the job done most of the time. When would you say a #5 is necessary? I saw the Ferrari done with 80 and then tech wax. Amazing. I tried #5 on the 72 Ranchero I did and saw no difference so I only did the hood just in case it looked different in the sun. Funny thing is it looked hazed up under the lights in the garage but amazing outside in the sunlight.

    Also #20 or tech wax use one or the other to finish and seal, but not both? I went with the tech wax on this one.

    Since #80 is very rich in polishing oils, there might not be much difference when using #5 after. But it shouldn't look hazed - be sure that you thoroughly buff off the excess.

    And I guess you could use both #20 and NXT, but I would recommend picking one, and instead applying two thin coats of that. Be sure to allow a minimum of 20 minutes of cure time between the two coats.

      What you use really depends on the paint and what you want to accomplish. The harder the paint the more aggressive product that needs to be used. If #80 doesn't get the defects you are trying to buff out, then try #83, if that doesn't work then possibly a rotary and a 7006 pad. Continuing until you either cut your losses or use the most aggressive product you are comfortable with. Sometimes getting 90% of the defects out of a daily driver is the best option rather than trying to get a perfect finish. Every car is going to be different. I wouldn't think you would notice much difference from using #5, it is a pure polish so it isn't going to have the cutting/cleaning ability that #80 has. You might use #5 after 80.

        Here is what I did. Now keep in mind this a 72 Ford Ranchero repainted in late 70's. I clay barred whole car. It is sky blue. I then used a cleaner polish I had with a wool pad. And while it brought back the color tremendously it left the hood looking blotchy. I have always had good results with it and it leaves no swirls even with a wool pad. I would compare it to 80 because I use it for a one step polish on say mid 90's and newer that need the color brought back. After I tried #5 with a 9000 series at 1200 rpm with my dewalt. It did no justice nor did the tech wax. Needless to say my father was more than pleased but I was not. I hoping for that perfect finish.


        The paint was literally dirty after claybarring even that my clay was totally black. As I was buffing you could see the brown tint coming out of the paint.

        The car is sky blue and blinding out in the sun. The roof came out perfect. The hood, maybe should be repainted. Who knows. I tried. I didnt want to compound because it was enamel and I dont know how thick.
