Actually, my wife is driving the car. She is the first one who found the poo poo. She never wipes it off because she hates poos.

I can only clean those poos after I got back from work. Previous, I wiped off with car shampoo with a paper towel.

Besides these poos, I also found some old water spots embedded in the paint. I hope the Scratch X can remove all of these.

      Hi C32 AMG,

Because of the great interest in understanding how to remove scratches, swirls and bird dropping etchings by hand using a Meguiar's Paint Cleaner, I have written a how to in the

        Thanks Mike,

This article explains everything I need.

However, 1 quick question, if I keep buffing the etched area for 3-4 minutes, will I get the "burnt-paint / discoloring"?

Mike: Thanks for the article - it works

Mike: I had a nasty bird dropping on the hood of a metallic black Suzuki Vitara. I tried all kinds of techniques to no avail until I read your article about Scratch X and working the area by hand with lots of elbow grease. It took about 15 minutes of rubbing Scratch X, removing, and re-applying, and the bird dropping disappeared.

          Fantastic article that works!

Thanks again for making this a great site! The best purchase I ever made was the Meg's PC kit when your show truck was in Nashville for the Mustang 40th.

Did you get any "burnt-paint" by keep rubbing Scratch X for 15 minutes in 1 location?

              No.

Clear coats are very hard and you and your hand will have a hard time burning the finish.

              It's good question though.

Burning paint is usually a term associated with rotary buffers.

You, working with your four fingers pushing down on a foam applicator with a product like ScratchX which offers excellent lubrication have no real chance of burning the paint.

Let me assure you that in most cases, the factory clear coat is hard enough to resist burning by products applied by hand. This hardness factor is the reason you must work the product in thoroughly and completely. Look at the diagram below,

In order to remove the etching left behind by the bird dropping, you must safely remove a small amount of paint that surrounds the etching until the highest points of the area surrounding the etching are equal to the lowest points of the etching.

This means removing some clear coat.

This will require you to work the ScratchX into the surface surrounding the etching thoroughly and completely, until it's almost gone. Then, repeating this process one or two more times. There is a very, very low chance that you will be able to generate enough heat and pressure to actually burn the paint when applying a product like ScratchX.

                I hope this helps...

The explanations and the drawing are so helpful. Now, I have much more confidence to work with Scratch X.

Mike, this thread should post to a section called "Scratch X - 101". I believe most people want to know this trick. In the past, when I used to own a Honda CRX, I used polishing / rubbbing compounds to remove "etches" and as a result, I got "burnt-paint".

                  Thanks.
