  • How long do your pads last?

My 8006 pad that I use 80 on gets a lot of use. However, it has begun to disengrate (sp). The center is completely gone. The pad has about 10 cars worth of buffing on the PC and has been washed one (in the sink with dawn, rinsed clean, then wrapped in a towel and squeezed). Other than that, the pad was stored in an open ziplock, and brushed using the ADS nylon brush on a rotary for cleaning. I have another pad that I use 80 with, that is quite a bit older, which is holding up fine.

This pad has begun to shed and come apart. I could understand if it was the lips (such as if I brushed up against a sharp object) but it is in the very center of the pad and I always tape sharp objects.

I was considering calling customer service, and I am sure they will offer a replacement, but I don't want to do so unless I am sure that it was a defective product. If it was something I did, or not Megs' fault (ie normal wear) I would rather pay for a replacement myself other then look for a free ride.

I should also state that this started after working on single stage paint, though I can't figure out why that would make a difference?
Let's make all of the cars shiny!

Well if it has held up for 10 cars worth of buffing I doubt it's defective at all. But anyways how long do my pads last, I've only buffed out 3 cars before including my truck and they're still holding up good as new. Well buffing out 10 cars worth of use seems like it's lasted well. But maybe washing the pad in general made the pad a little weaker (I really doubt it, just an thought). No point in stressin about it just a buy a new one.
