Well I spent over 100 dollars near 200 on meguiars products and 2 be honest I"m not sure if I'm really that happy with it...spent 3 hours cleaning my car in and out..used scratch x and the scracthes are still there...First I washed used scracth x..then used the paint cleaner and the polish...then I waxed it...used the detail wipes and protectant..plus tire shine and didn't really get supprised..I think black magic might be the best tire shine i ever used...unless I"m doing these things wrong but I was expecting a lot more

Does Scratch X work>?

How are you exactly applying these products? Everytime I used scratchx, it works wonders. Same with the polish, wax, etc. For scratchx to fully work, you need to give it a little muscle(not TOO much), and let it dry to a haze, and you may have to repeat that two or three times.2003 Toyota Celica GT- Silver Streak Mica

Here's a great how to for using scratchX. How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX
When I first used the product, I followed the directions on the bottle. Then I read the info from the forum and used those techniques. Worked out real well.

scratch x left micro marring all over my black lexus's clear coat..
only visible in the sun..
i tried again today.. using straight line application so i can see if it was the cause..
scratch x medium pressure .. meg's foam applicator.. meg's supreme shine microfiber.. all brand new.. also tried light pressure.. worked it until clear and almost gone
well guess what.. super fine micro marring on my clear coat in the pattern of straight lines..
sorely dissapointed.. brand new week old lexus.. thanks meguairs.. i think scratch x is too harsh for some of the new car paints..
looking for alternate product to remove ultra fine micromarring

honestly, I have never found Lexus paint to be soft, so I am suprised by your results. ScratchX is very mild and shouldn't leave much micromarring behind unless you are overworking the product.
Three things to consider, your paint is extermely scratch senstive, in which case your going to hate your car quickly...
Or your this is some user error when using scratchX(which it sounds like there isn't)
Or it is a defective product.
My guess, from experinece is that you have very very soft paint and is exteremly scratch senstive. My CBR600 (black with tribal flames) scratchs like crazy when I use ScratchX. However, it swirls like crazy when I dry rub it with a microfiber!!! I even buffed my paint using a 9006 pad and #82, and installed swirling.
Sometimes its just a fact of very soft paint...
Then you can take a Corvette (just proving that not all clearcoats are the same) and drag gravel over the surface and have a hard time marring it (don't do it!) and have even a harder time buffing the marring out. EXTREMELY hard clear coat.Let's make all of the cars shiny!

What I noticed when I use Scratch X on my Camaro is, on my hood and roof it worked great...Then I went to use it on my spolier it worked..but not as well. The paint just seems harder there... Overall I'm very satisfied with the product. Hopefully there is a solution to your Scratch X issue. My car is black also.
