  • Clay Bar - Storage?

I just tried out the Meguiar's quickclay system on my 2006 Ranger and can't believe the results. Wow!
Problem is, I'm not doing the entire truck in one pass (I'm lazy that way) and I'm not sure how to safely store the clay bar in between sessions. Right now I'm throwing it in a new zip-lock bag, but I'm wondering for long term storage what I should use. Should I wrap it in tinfoil or just use a zip-lock?

You could always throw it in an old pickle jar or a coffee can. Just make sure to clean them out before you stick your clay in there because anything left in there will stick to the clay and could possibly scratch your car.

I'd use a zip lock bag, just be sure to spray a little QD in the bag and on the clay and close it tight.

Thats what I do, works like a charm and doesn't take up much room either.

I think a zip-lock bag lasts a year or year and a half with some QD sprayed in it. Which is pretty much exactly when I need to buy a new clay bar, assuming a new car with the Smooth Surface kit.

            I also use a zip-lock.

I used a ziplock bag on my first claybar ever, which was (gasp!) from Mothers (couldn't find Meg's anywhere). The bag completely disintegrated after a year or so. Now I keep the clay in one of those small round Glad plastic containers (think cheap Tupperware).
