  • buffing for a novice

Im a young adult who has been cleaning up cars for about 4 years now. I would like to find a buffer that i can use on my jeep that wont burn throught the paint. I guess you could call it a beginner s buffer. I just need something that i can use and gradually gain experiendce. I dont want to be a pro car detailer but i would like to learn how to buff and make my jeep look A+.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

You might want to start out with a Dual Action Polisher.

            welcome,welcome

hi,and welcome to the most addicting site on the web.
I had the same problem like you, then i searched, and found a machine with the same specs as in the pictures lynn posted, because the meguiars was not available in the netherlands, and i waited more then 8 months to try it on a car.i didn't had the knowledge i needed,to operate it safely.i tried it on my 1985 porsche, and it turned out great, but i saw the car clinics on www.meguiars.com , and had three pads with the machine.
Be sure you have enough pads, and dedicate them to a product.

for me it was this what gave me the best results as a newbie:
wash with nxt or gold class shampoo,

make sure you get the quick clay sysytem, i use it to remove baked on bugs.

then i applied deep crystal paint cleaner, step 1

after that,i polished with deep crystal polish, step 2

and then waxed with deep crystal carnauba wax, step 3

i started out apliying the paint cleaner by hand, ecause i was afraid i would damage the paint.by now i do all buffing with my machine.
it saves time, gives a better result, and you don't use as much product ,so order that machine, and let the big fun begin.

keep in mind that when you stay careful, there 's not so much that can go wrong.

            bye

            Rick

If you can"t get the one through the Meguiars website you can get one from Lowes. They carry the same thing but without the velcro backing pad and the lifetime guarantee. But you can get a backing plate from a bodyshop. That is if you can't buy the PC through Meguiars. The one that is at Lowes only cost about $109.00 + tax and it only comes with a 1 year guarantee.

I purchased a 7 inch polisher from Sears for $20.00 it was ok but I decided to go with the pc.I think Meguiars is the way to go if you can afford it,if not check out this package for $129.99 lhttp://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/pr7424.htm?A+coastest+xqbp4987ff2bcb2b+PORT7424+1087026793#cart
