    i got got my DA #4 package from ADS, and i orded the video, and some more bonnets and pads, any way on teh video he only uses #80, but i got that 83, 2, and 9 when should i use those, and whats the main difference between them all esp, 83 and 80. i know its alot but i love leanring about this stuff thanks

    Well, I am not really sure about when you would want to be using #2. For the others, you basicaly would use them as needed.. for instance:

    Step 1. Test spot with #80 - If good, continue. If after several passes on the test spot with #80 there is not much improvement, then Test Spot with #83. #83 + 8006 pad is the most aggressive a beginer should go. Complete the car with whichever product (#80, or #83) was needed.

    Step 2. Evaluate the finish after each step. Get a good look at it in the light. Much like sandpaper, determine if you want to go to a finer product.

    You will probably need to follow #83 with #80.

    You may or may not need/want to follow #80 with #9 or #7.

    You may or may not want to follow #9 with #7.


    I hope you can see from that example that it is just a matter of seeing how agressive you need to go, then work down to milder and milder products till you are happy.

    On most cars, #80 leaves a very good finish and any additional polishing would be optional. But on some cars, going to milder products is required, and even playing with the pads to see what leaves the perfect finish.

      if the vehicle i am doing, my dads navigator and came with DISO, would 80 or 83 be to much or would a #9 or 2 be better?

        Yeah, I wanna know that too.

        Some of those products have almost the same cutting "power". So, what's the difference?

          Well, as I said, I know nothing about #2 other than it used to be rotary only.

          But what I was trying to convey was that you want to do a test spot/area with #80, and see if it is enough. If not, then use #83.

          #83 is a medium strength cleaner.
          #80 is mild cleaner.
          #9 is a very mild cleaner.

          So you just want to think of seeing what works on your paint, then moving from stronger to milder.

          Without working on the paint, there is no exact way to say this or that will definately work. Paint varies manufacturer to manufacturer, color to color, year to year.

          #80 is the best starting place, and go from there. It will not be too agressive.

          In the future, if the car is well kept, then #9 may be all you need. But for most people around here, #80 is the most used product with a PC.

              What I meant was see which product you need, #80, or #83, to remove the swirls that you have. Once you have determined that product, then keep moving from the 'stronger' product to milder products.
