  • Drying... :)

When drying, what are some common techniques that are helpful and effective? Do you guys use 1 or 2, or maybe even 3 tools to dry them? WM and SSCHamois? MFs?

Today I used a SS MF to get most of the water off, then followed with the Water Magnet. Seemed like a good technique. I guess the humidity worked against me because the water started drying in some spots before I got to it with the WM. I was .

    What about you guys?

Are you washing your car and drying it while it is sitting under the sun? If so, then this might be part of your problem. The best would be to wash it in the shade if possible or even in an interior garage if you have access to one at home.

I think that the best possible tool you can invest in to dry your car is a Shop Vac that comes with a detachable leaf blower. This will get all the water out of the cracks and crevices, as well as really dry your panels well until there is barely any water left.

Once you've used the Shop Vac to blow water off the panels, you will see that drying the rest of the water with a MF towel will take you very little time.

No I'm not washing/drying in the sun. I guess I just mightve taken off too much water with the SSMF (Supreme Shine MF) and it dried before I got to it with the WM.

      LiquidBlacks technique is nice.

Except I dont have the Super Suede Chamois, but should use the same technique witih my SS MF ans he did with his chamois.

I use an absorber at the moment and follow up with a water magnet. That will soon change after I recieve my ADS order which just so happens to have 3 more WMs in it!

I like the results the WM gives. Four should cover my full size truck with the absorber for the wheels.

          I have a 4 step drying approach.

          1) Flood rinse
          2) California Water Blade
          3) Blower port of shop vac
          4) Absorber

            Got another question guys.

I just washed my MFs, the way I always do:

            Laundry Detergent (NO fabric softener)
            Dry on Low

Can I repeat the same process for my Water Magnet? Or shouldI use a different technique?

Yes, you can wash the water magnets the same way that you do your microfibers.

I wash my WM with my MF towels.. No need to seperate them if you are.

I've used the (same) Absorber for over 10 years, but I finally broke down & bought a few Cobra Waffle Weave towels, & used one for the first time last week. I gotta say, I wasn't overly impressed. The satin trim around the edge slings & drags a lot of water around once the towel is saturated. I may try a first pass with the absorber, then follow up with the waffle weave.

Then again, I've never really had a problem with the absorber. It's so dry in the summertime, that after 1-2 swipes, the rest evaporates within seconds.

I tried the leaf blower once, but living in the high desert, it's so dusty around here I was worried about blasting a load of **** into the paint.

I love the absorber but recently started using the Water Magnet.. and I do like the WM. But the Absorber just works so well at getting the drippy areas of the car. I do need to pick up a few more WM though. I only have 1

I use a PVA chamois which is stored damp in it's container.
Just toss it over the hood and drag away, it'll absorb water nicely and wrings out easily too.
just make sure that it is clean, or else..*scratch*

I used an Absorber / WM combo last night and it worked great. I don't really like how the WM wipe off large amounts of water, but I don't really like how the Absorber doesn't get ALL the water. So I get the majority or the water with the absorber then come back with the WM to leave it perfect. Great Combo.

I take the head off of the hose for the final rinse and flow the water over the paint sheeting the majority of the water off and then follow up with a WM. I can do the whole truck with 2 WM's after sheeting the water off. Makes a big difference.
