  • Quick Detail W indshield/Clay

    Hi,

I am considering claying my windshield, but should I use Quick Detail on it?

Quick Detail seems like slippery water with a lower specific gravity.

Obviously, there is something in Quick Detailer that makes it more slippery than water, yet not leave any spots on paint.

My question is should I use Quick Detailer as the lube for claying a windshield, or will it be a challenge to remove Quick Detailer after finishing?

I have car soap, Nxt Glass Cleaner, Invisible Glass, Gunk Glass Cleaner, and the not recomended Windex (for house windows).

Any idea if one would be gauranteed to cleanup quick detailer?

    Thanks

I clayed my windshield just last week with decent results. The QD seemed to wipe clean off with no problem, but I cleaned up with NXT Glass cleaner, anyway. The NXT Glass cleaner took any trace of the QD right off.

I used this same procedure recently and was very happy with the results (although it was on a fairly new windshield). But I plan on doing my older vehicles the same.

You'll want to use a glass cleaner afterwards like usual, but other than that nothing speacial.

          Ditto

After claying your glass with a quick detailer, wipe the glass clean using a glass cleaner specifically formulated to clean glass and leave it streak, haze and smear free.

            Thanks!

I tried it and it worked fine for claying.

First, I cleaned my Widnows with Nxt Widnow Cleaner and a microfiber that wasn't from Meguiar's.

Then I clayed it with Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay and the Quick Detailer that comes with SS Clay. I sued the Supreme Microfiber to pick up leftover QD.

Finally using another Microfiber and Nxt Glass Cleaner again, I cleaned up all the clay and QD Remains.

            It turned out excellent.

            Thanks

            Justin
