  • When is it a good time to stop?

I am planning on doing all the steps to my truck pretty soon. The only problem is that I dont think Ill have time to do it all in one day since Ill start on a friday afternoon around 6(time I get home from work) to about 12 at night(time I have to be in bed to wake up a 6 in the morning)Ill continue on saturday. My question is when in the steps is it a good time to stop and continue the next day without so much trouble. Is it ok to stop after claying or after polishing? I am planning on taking somewhere from 10-14 hours in total since Ill be cleaning all interior, extirior, under hood, and even all my rims, inside and out. Thanks

Is your vehicle going to be in a garage? Since I keep mine in a garage I have stopped in just about every process and continued the next day with no problems. Just started where I left off, I try to get the biggest jump the night before(say through the polishing step) so I can take it easy the next day on the interior and wax steps(IMO the easy stuff).

Now if you are leving your vehicle outside you might consider QDing before you start detailing again.

When I clean my vehicles I spread the steps out and get great end results. It may be better for you to spread out the steps if you have more than one weekend to work on it. Say one week you can wash, clean the engine, clay, colorX, and clean the interior. The next week you can wash, scratchX where needed, and colorX. Then the next week you could wash, polish, and wax with your favorite wax.

This will allow you to really put effort into each step without getting burnt out. Your paint will be very clean by the time you get to the polish and final wax step. Each week will also allow time to do more 'detailing' on the wheels, headlights, door jambs, engine, etc..

      Just a thought to consider.

Thanks. I like both ideas. But since this is my first time doing all the steps, I kinda wanted to finish in one weekend, you know to get that awesome feeling that my truck is completely clean. That way when I go out that night, Ill feel like a million bucks

But once I get use to it, Ill start spreading it out to two weekends. That way I will detail everything with more time and effort. Do these steps really take a toll on you. How tired can ya get??
