  • Stonechip Protection

What can I do to my car's bodywork to give it stonechip protection? I was looking at this site http://www.rhinoprotect.co.uk/ - apparently some sort of film is placed all over the bodywork to protect against stonechips etc.

Are these type of protectors any good? Is there a chance that dirt etc could get under the protective film and cause problems? Has anyone used anything like this and can recommend anything?

    Thanks

    Hi Rgb

    Welcome to Meguiars Online,

Paint Protection Films are great for reducing rock chip damage to the front of your car

I personally have installed a few on Mercedes, Jaguars , and so forth.

Although many companies make the film, I prefer to use the 3M brand. The dealer or their wholesaler usually cuts the film to fit the specified vehicle. and comes in 2 parts, one for the hood and one for the bumper. So becareful of the prices, as their price may only include a partial kit. and you"ll end up paying more for the other half. They also make them for the headlights but that is usually a thicker film.

It is a wise investment depending on the type of vehicle you have, some body styles chip alot more than others.

Make sure your paint is polished out or any chips are touched up before it gets applied, any imperfections will be trapped underneath the clear film.

    Hope this helps some
