  • Heavy Duty Carpet & Interior Cleaner...

    Greetings,

My car has been at the body shop for the last 2 weeks and my interior definitely needs some TLC. I was hoping to get some APC, however it's not available in my area. I want to really clean my door panels and dash very well.

I have Meguiar's Heavy Duty Carpet & Interior cleaner which I have used in the past and love. I will be using that for the seats and floor mats. However, I am not certain if I can use this on the other interior surfaces.

I do have a local store that sells APC Wipes. Should I go with those instead for the door panels and dash?

    Thanks in advance.

With deference to my favorite cleaner "Extra" now discontinued, you might try using a water and Woolite (6:1) solution. Cleans well and is inexpensive. I'd follow up with a vinyl conditioner. I also love Quik Interior Detailer. It leaves a clean and new look with no streaking.

I believe that the heavy duty carpet cleaner says on the bottle that it can be used on interior plastics, so I say go for it! Worst case scenario is that it just doesn't work very well. I'm finishing up a bottle of Griot's interior cleaner that I bought eons ago, and already have a bottle of the heavy duty carpet cleaner that I'm going to then use for dirty interior panels . . . .

Also, quick interior detailer is a GREAT product. I've used Vinylx, Tech Protect, and others, and I've never like the sheen that they've put on interior panels (on exterior plastic, I think Tech Protect is great). QID removes light dust, provides some UV coating, and most importantly, doesn't give the interior a really shiney appearance -- just "clean." Only downside is the product stinks a little bit, which is unusal for Meg's . . . .
