Lucky. One time a truck was hauling dirt on the 4th lane of the freeway, and I was on the 2nd lane, and stuff was spilling from it. Even that far away they would still hit my hood. I have some rock chips as big as the standard Windows mouse pointer. =\

Yeah, i'm kind of keen to the eye i guess the word is? Noticing anything wrong on the car. The chips don't show well with the camera(probably since i left it out in a rainstorm it doesn't work as well lol), but i was just like ahhhhhhhh wtf when i saw them. Guess imma have to get the fine paintbrush and dab these.

Working construction for two summers and following our semis did not help my FireRed Grand Prix, looks about the same.

This is one of my pet peeves!!! The dump truck owners should have to contribute to a fund that provides for free repainting or car hoods with damage due to stone chips.

A covered load law would be nice too!!!

I know the feeling well. My 2001 Sentra has stone chips all over the hood and I cannot remove then + they are too small to touch up without causing more blemishes.

Just so you know, commercial links aren't allowed. You might just wanna type langka paint and chip repair. But thanks for the site. I have the touchup paint, and usually the procedure is the same on all deep scratches and chips. Fill them in with touchup paint 2-3 times. Let them dry for a month or so, wetsand them to become smooth with the surface, then rotary the sandmarks out. Its a long process though with 15+ rock chips.

Care to elaborate on that product? I am very excited about it...and I am considering it...my chips are very small, so i am hoping that 2oz bottle will cover more than 20-30 chips...i have a lot!

Even though it might help, you don't need no fancy kit

First clean the chip with something like Isopropyl Alcohol
Use a toothpick or a very fine paintbrush to fill the chips with several layers of touchup paint, letting each layer dry in between. Do this until there is a slight blob of paint.
Let it dry completely (if the weather is warm, I usually just wait a day or two - seems to work fine).
Wetsand the blob until it is level with the surrounding paint, using 2000 grit or finer sandpaper. Use very light pressure, as to not sand the surrounding area to much.
Polish out the sanding scrathes with ScratchX and some elbow grease... or with a rotary.
Then you can wait until the paint is cured, and protect the areas with wax. But since I don't like it when my paint is unprotected, I can usually only stand waiting a few days before I just have to wax it

It doesn't seem to cause problems waxing so soon, when the touched up areas are so small.
"Now Biff... make sure that we get two coats of wax this time..."
