  • Tire Cleaning

What does everyone use to clean their tires ? I used some APC diluted 1:1 and even full strength one time and there was still black "stuff" on the tires when I wiped off the excess hyper dressing.

It kind of pissed me off because when I wiped the tire the black residue on there got on my clean white letters !

    Suggestions ?

    Thanks

I've used NXT Tire Cleaner with great results. I do not have white lettering on my tires though. It seems like it would work well on them. I also used the Versa angle tire brush to scrub it down.

A dedicated tire cleaner will be most effective on tires since it is specially formulated to clean rubber. I have not tried Meguiar's NXT Tire Cleaner. However, I have used Westley's Bleche-Wite for many years with good results. It is available at most auto parts and big box stores like Walmart. Spray it on a DRY tire and scrub with a stiff brush. An unbelieveable amount of brown gook (brake dust) comes off, as well as built up tire dressing. You white letters will also come out sparkling clean.

I agree with toady. I've tried the NXT tire cleaner with good results but not great ones. Bleeche-white works great with some effort, the tires will come out black and clean. I also have white letters on my tires. I spray a second coat of bleeche-white on them and scrub with a wire grill brush. I would suggest cleaning your tires frequently if you drive alot. I put alot of highway miles on my car, and if I wait too long the tires are a pain to clean.

I'm 37 and have used Wesley's Bleach White on my tires since I got my first car when I was 16 and has always worked great and it's not that expensive. Then NXT tire cleaner is ok, but the bleach white is the best.

I used Nxt Tire Cleaner followed up with APC, and that seemed to get all the brown stuff a few days ago.

                Some people use the degreasers.

                  Tire cleaning.....

Westley's Bleche-Wite, been using it for 30+ years with every kind of wheel finish (no problem) and whitewall, white letter and blackwall tires. Sorry Meguiar's, I use all your other stuff. Have not found anything better for tires.

I agree. Westley's is definately the best I have found at cleaning tires, especially raised white letters.

EXTRA is an amazing product that I still use to clean my tires. I like it a little more than NXT Tire Cleaner, but I am running low on EXTRA so i might have to switch

Just a word of caution... Before anyone goes out and tries Westley's, be sure not to use it around non-clearcoated aluminum wheels. Unless they have changed the formula it will cause flash oxidation.

Absolutely does! It will stain your wheels in a hurry if they are non-clear coated! It also obviously will remove any wax you have on your wheels if you spray it on them.

Well, I'm quoting myself. That was my opinion then and now it's changed. I finally got some Safe Degreaser from the detailers line and diluted 4:1 and it worked just as well as the Bleche White, even on the raised white letters and since it's available in gallons, it's more economical. Also used it to scrub my wheel wells. Just added one more Meg's product to my arsenal!

Interesting...Im pretty sure Super Degreaser would work as well but Im just afraid for my rims that are waxed up.
