  • Mr Clean.....

Ok, I use the Mr Clean car wash gun, mainly because I have hard water and it removes the hardness.

According to the manual, I can only use Mr. Clean brand of soap in this gun. They claim any other soap will gum up the works. I think that is a load of crock. The soap contains a Dry-Rinse polymer.

I use Meguiar's products from start to finish, with the exception of the car soap. My question is, is there a Meguiar's brand of soap I can use in the Mr. Clean wash gun?

    Yep, all of them...

But use the two bucket method
Let's make all of the cars shiny!

I only use the Mr. Clean gun for the spotless feature, and then I load it with soap to "pre-soak" the car.

I used Meguiar's Gold Class, but actually diluted it slightly before putting it in the gun. The Gold Class seems to be more of a "gel" consistancy compared to the MrClean stuff, so i thought it might need it.

I run a little water through it afterwards just in case. I also still use the two buckets... like i said, I only use the "Soap" as a pre-soak.

        Mr. Clean soap refill

I do not use the complete Mr. Clean car wash "system", just the soap refills which cost ~$5 each.

I get about a dozen car washes out of a bottle and use the soap in a 5 gal bucket, or sometimes with a hose/brush combination. It seems to work very well, but I still dry off the last few drops of water with a synthetic chamois.

Other than the Mr. Clean soap refill, I use all Meguiar's products: NXT waxes, tire gel, wheel cleaner, and detail spray.

Does the "Gold Class" soap have the same "quick dry" feature as the Mr. Clean stuff? How about a cost comparison?

I've used Deep Crystal soap and Gold Class soap in the MCAD. Two cautions:

          1. Empty the Mr. Clean soap out of the tank, fill it with water and run the tank of water through the MCAD before adding other soaps. It's the interaction between the Mr. Clean soap and other soaps that gums it in my view. To see what I mean, mix a little Mr. Clean soap with another brand of soap in a small container and it'll start gumming up.

          2. The car won't dry as fast with the other soaps I've used.
