little specs of pad coming off?

Couldn't wait til the weekend had to try the new pc out on the deck lidof the wife's car.This is my first time with it and noticed that there were little specs of pad coming off all over.At first thought it was spatter but after looking closer noticed it was pad,least I think it was.I think it was coming from the edges.My questions is is this normal or am I not using enough product,too much,Is there something I should fo to prep the pads?Maybe wash before using but the instructions on the bag didn't say anything just to use a brush to clean after use.
The pads were the w-dav99 and product was #9,#7,and nxt.Thanx for any input.

I've ran into this with new pads but it goes away after the first time it does a panel, I was going to wash the pad before use, when I get my next set of pads to see if that "clears" them out. never seemed to hurt anything.
