  • Heavy heavy wheel-well tar

Ive tried Turtle wax, AutoGlym, Meguiars and nothing works.... Ive got heavy tar deposits inside the wheel wells... I mean gooey, thick all over the place deposits... Degreasers do not seem to work... Most of the products are quite runny... and tar tends to stick...well... upside down, so I need something that sticks to the surface (up side down!)... Ive managed to remove some... with a tar remover AND a brillo pad... Had to 'cover up' with #38 Tyre and trim gel the damage done to the plastic...

Is there any gel or foam like product that is designed for this?

So you've tried a bug & tar remover? Let it soak for about a minute, and then agitate with a brush and hose off? Try something like a pressure washer in addition to the above.

Well, just to toss out ideas, there is APC with a foaming head sprayer, or something like the Body Solvent.

Or WD-40 seems to work for lots of stuff...

I thought about the body solvent.... but the curious thing is that I spoke to a company that distributes Meguiars in the UK and he said that even though the Solvent is good... he wouldnt recommend it for my particular case (heavy tar underneath the car)... and he did have it in stock, so it wasnt the case of "i dont recommend it cause I dont have it"...

The above really left me puzzled....

I would really like to give a full underbody treatment... One thing is the smooth and relatively easy to access plastic inside the wheel wells (which ive alreay kind of done)... something else is all the nooks and crannies underneath the car.... with all the different textures and materials...

I wish there was a product available in bulk, not in tiny 325ml bottles that would just spray, let it soak and rinse off along with the tar...

        Probably it doesnt exist!
