Does the California dust leave swirls and scratches in the clear coat?

    I mean the California Duster.

I love the California Car Duster. In a couple of minutes, I can detail the whole car if the only issue is a fresh layer of wax. I have never had any issues with scratching or marring. The trick is with the technique. You just want the ends of the fibers to gently sweep over the paint. The wax in the fibers will attract the dust.

Note that Meg's makes a nicer version of the CA car duster -- it has an ergonomic versa handle on it. For dust dashing, tho, the smaller Callie car duster is the only game in town.

Thank you! I wanted to know before I decide to either buy one or order Meguiar's.

Meguiar's doesn't make a dash duster, do they? I've only seen the body duster and that looks a mite big to use on the dashboard.

Having both, the Meguiars model is the nicer of the two. When new, fresh out of the box, they both tend to leave bits of parafin behind which is a nusiance to remove. Once they get a little dirty they seem to work much better....go figure

My understanding is that when you first get such a duster, you should let it sit on newspapers for a few days for the newspapers to soak out the excess wax.

                You can have your duster.

Give me a bottle of last touch and a 100% cotton towel.

One more tip...be sure to use it on a cool surface. The parafin will leave streaks and spots on hot paint.

Like someone just said, the duster works much better on a surface that just has been waxed.

So far, everyone has been telling me to dust first before shooting some QD on the paint and wiping. Is it safe to just skip the dusting, especially when I'm not at home where my duster is?

Dude, keep your duster in your vehicle. I bust it out anytime I see the need for a Dusting. I aslo have a bottle of QD and a couple MF towels handy.

I heard the duster has wax in the fibers. I wasn't sure if it was good for it to just marinate in my truck, especially in Oklahoma summer heat which is hitting 100 degrees already, and a lot more inside the truck.

                          Any insight?
