  • What to do when it RAINS

I swear, I searched for this topic and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Every month, I intend to wash, clean/prep if necessary, and wax x2. Every day I intend to dust and NXT Speed Detail if necessary. Every week I intend to wash and spray waax.

If it were to rain sometime in between, what do you guy usually do? Leave it as is until its time to wash again? Or do you wash it immediately as the rain disappears even though your "washing day" is only 2 days away (so you wash it again 2 days later because you're CAR CRAZY)?

I wash my car every Friday or Saturday depending on the spare time I have.

Whenever it rains during the week, I just make a quick pass with QD and an MF. Allthough that's a bit dependant on the weather forecast. We do get a lot of rain here in Belgium so if I know it's going to rain that same night, I skip the QD

I have the opposite problem here. It never rains! I like to wash my car every tuesday but sometimes it just doesn't need it. I wash it anyway. The neighbors think I'm crazy.

LOL. I have the same problem in winter when my car looks pretty darn good, and i am in line for a car wash at the local touchless mobil station. people must think i am an odd ball.

where do you guys keep getting your QD from?
is it Meguiar's? or your own recipe?
won't it finish, I keep reading QD QD...it's quite expensive here in Malaysia.

I use Meguiar's NXT Generation Speed Detailer. I bought mine @ Pep Boy's. I don't know what kind of automotive stores they have there.

Guess what all? I detailed my truck all weekend, and it rained this morning!!! The water beaded up real nice on the flat surfaces, and pretty much ran off on the sides. Is it okay for me to spray the hood down with Speed Detailer when I get home w/o washing it?

The reason why I'm asking is because its not dry dust that I can dust off before wiping with QD. Or do I just need to wait unitl this weekend again to wash it w/ my routine?

Every Sunday is my wash/wax day, unless I'm detailing somebody else's car. My car stays outside all the time, but I use a Kingdom Carcover designed for my car. It designed to get rained on and let the cover dry w/o harming the car. Keeps my paint cleaner longer and keeps the interior alot cooler, especially since my car is all black.

Okay, I know we all say that if bird poop gets on the car or something of that nature, then we can dust the car off, apply QD, and wipe off.

In this case, whatever dust was on the truck has now gotten wet from the rain and has since dried. I don't think dusting will remove it.

What is the best thing to do now? Just leave it as is until I wash it again Saturday morning? I'd like to use Speed Detailer, but I think that's pretty much like applying Speed Detailer to a dirty truck (so if I wanted to do that, I'd have to wash the truck again).

I guess I answered my own question?

I've used Final Inspection (#??), Nxt Speed Detailer, and the Quick Detailer in the red bottle, all with fine results. Frankly, I can't tell much of a difference among the three. I'm thinking of buying FI in the gallon size, and putting it into a spray bottle as needed, since that's most economical.

I use QD for spot cleaning when I pull my cover off or when I'm getting ready to install the cover. I'm thinking of going with some FI in the gallon like Miked2 for the purpose of a gallon jug. I use alot of detailer when it comes to claying a car so having a good quanity won't hurt. Luckily, my water here in the Delta is not hard at all, so if it rains on my car w/o the cover it won't spot hardly at all. I don't like spots of any kind of my car, but if it rains on it, I will be washing it in the next day or two when it's nice out.

If it rains and the dust is dried up on the car then you'll probably have to wash to be on the safe side. You shouldn't dust you might get scratches.

                            fishbonezken,

For a QD spray, you can also try using Last Touch, available in gallon size and dilutable. Can be obtained from Hypercoat in USJ.

FI is Final Inspection (#34) from the professional line.
I bought a gallon of FI and poured them into empty QD bottles I had lying around.

Yah, I think I'll just wait until Saturday morning again to wash it.

Detailing must **** during the rainy season!
