  • New use for scratchx?

I was reading the latest issue of popular science,(july 2006). in this issue the music trick of the month was as follows; If your cd skips treat it with toothpaste. The fine abrasives that remove stains from your teethcan also help remove scratches by buffing them out. They also say if this doesn't work try Brasso metal polish and finish with a coat of turtle wax. Well at first I was upset that a Meg's product wasn't mentioned. Then I thought why not use scratchx on a cd then use one of our products to give it some protection. Any thoughts? This may have been covered previously but I'm not sure. sorry I'm so wordy. /

Yes, the toothpaste on CD is a common trick. I just think that the abrasives may be just a little TOO much of applied harshly. If you know about CDs, you know that they are not really flat, they have micro-grooves on them that actually play the music. If you mess those up, then you mess the music up. But try it on an old CD and see how it works. I was also thinking this, maybe ScratchX can remove those annoying scratches on our cell phone screens???

You may have better luck with PlastX for this type of application.

        SL1CK,
Nolah ...the micro-grooves are behind the plastic..
i.e if you're looking at the data part(the shiny rainbow), you are actually looking through plastic and then only the micro grooves...you can only spoil the disc(without scratching) by cuttin it from the back..the label of the CD...
so just make sure it is smooth when u polish
and then top it off with NXT Tech Wax
it will reflect the lasers back to your CD drive and burn it..haha

I'm pretty sure that's one of the uses they list on the back of a PlasticX bottle.
