  • Need Help Narrowing the Products

I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum, 8,000 miles, black. I want to take care of this car better than I have with other cars in the past. What confounds me it the number of products out there -- wash, wax, glaze, etc., etc. What I want to do is narrow down a list of products that will:

    1. Clean the car.

    2. Wax/Protect/Seal -- whatever it may be called.

    3. Clean the leather.

    4. Clean the vinyl/plastic interior.

    5. Clean the windows.

I'm new to this site and am trying to get my head around what I need and what would be nice to have. What I DO want to get is a few micro-fiber and a few waffel towels, along with one of those silicone blades.

Can anyone recommend some products that will keep my car looking good?

    Thanks for any help.

    Mike

i am assuming that you are working by hand

    1. first you have to wash with a product like NXT Generation Car Wash

then i would clay the car with Quik Clay System

afterwards i would use a paint cleaner llike Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or if you have swirls ScratchX

after the Deep crystal step 1 i would move onto polishing with something like:Deep Crystal Polish .

and finally i would use a good wax/sealant like NEW NXT Generation Tech Wax Paste

    here is some helpfil reading

Be sure to read these first, so you see and understand the full process:

      Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

      Step 1 Wash

      Step 2 Clean

      Step 3 Polish

      Step 4 Protect

      Step 5 Maintain

Having read and understood those, how much time are you looking to invest in this? Thinking of a full detail, or maybe shortcuts, etc? Obvioulsy a full detail gives the best results, but not everyone has time for that.

          Hey Guys

Thanks for the info. Any recommendations for the glass, leather and plastic? I have a Meguire's dealer closeby and I'm heading there tomorrow. Sounds like this question has been asked numerous times. I guess I need to get the basics and work from there. Thanks again!

I like Invisible Glass on all my Glass and Mirrors, it's a non Meguiar's product and I think it rocks. It is usually about $4 for a can and they are now starting to but it into spray bottles. Or check Sam's Club and they had a 4 pack for $10. I know Meg. has their NXT glass cleaner and I have not used it yet.

              To answer your questions accordingly:

              1. Clean the car = Meguiars offers great car washing solutions, including the Gold Class Car Wash and the NXT Generation Car Wash to name a couple of products.

              2. Waxing can vary in what you want to pick. If you want to use the professional products, then Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant can work, or you can use NXT Generation Wax or Deep Crystal Wax.

              3. Clean the leather. = Meguiars has many leather cleaners and conditioners. They have a two step system which includes caring for the leather using first Meguiars Leather Cleaner followed by Meguiars Leather Conditioner. They also offer Meguiars Leather Wipes, which help tidy up and clean/condition the leather.

              4. Clean the vinyl/plastic interior. = Other products in the market by Meguiars to clean interiors would be, Meguiars Interior Wipes and Meguiars Interior Detailer (a spray) for vinyl.

              5. Clean the windows. - Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner is perfect for cleaning your windows and leaving spot free and streak free finishes.

Give NXT Glass Cleaner a try, it won't disapoint... use it with a microfiber and you are set, no streaks no haze. I used to be a big IG fan but IMO NXT is a step up from IG. IG is a great product but I reach for NXT Glass Cleaner all the time both in the house and on my vehicles.
