  • Hope this isn't a stupid question

    I thought that using a D.A.
    and a product like #83
slowly takes away small layers of your
paint so if you do it too much
wont that do damage to it?

There are no stupid questins, only stupid answers
Yes you're right, if you use it too often it'll damage your paint, but don't be scared. This does not happen too fast

unless you are planning to use #83 several times a month you don't really have anything to worrie about.

lol and as all teachers say "stupid questions are the ones you don't ask"

Even air moving past the paint will remove some paint molecules... so it is all relative.

You can safely use #83 and #80 for years, but if you have to use #83 everytime you detail your car, you will probably want to look at how you are washing, etc, and how so many swirls are getting on your car.

Maybe this will help as well:

This question comes up a lot and one thing you should try doing besides reading the thread Murr1525 posted above, (which is a very good read by the way), and that is to actually pour some M83 out into your hand and feel it with your fingers; you'll find the product to be smooth and creamy and possibly not as aggressive feeling as some people imagine.

In the bigger picture, if you find yourself needing to use M83 often then it's time to look at how you're maintaining the finish and perhaps make some changes in this area.

Is there a polish i can use maybe 3 times monthly that will not remove paint?

Not sure why you would need to polish your car that often, but you could use either #82, which is a very mild cleaner/polish, or a pure polish like #7/#81.

These arent very durable, or offer much protection, so you would want to follow with a wax of some sort.

But unless you live in a real harsh environment, your wax will last longer than a week.
