  • help! can colorX remove the swirl of the pic

can i use colorX to remove it ?
and how to to it ,please tell me the tips.

ColorX can probably remove these swirls but it will have to be applied using a dual action polisher like the G100

If you're doing all your work by hand then you're going to want to use ScratchX.

My best recommendation would be for you to decide how important a swirl free finish is and if it's real important then you're going to have to figure out how to get a dual action polisher.

Yes, ColorX can be applied by hand, dual action polisher and orbital buffer.

You never know what you can do until you try. Test it out in a small area about a foot squared and apply the ColorX and see if it works in the small area. Apply it, work the wax against the finish for a about minute, then let the product dry and then remove it and inspect the area.

If the area looks good and meets you're expectations then repeat this over the entire car. If the results don't meet your expectations then you'll likely have to either use a more aggressive product or a different tool or a combination of both.

Can you share a picture of the tool you bought or a link to where you bought it?

The tool you have purchased is a type of rotary buffer.

ColorX is not formulated for use with a rotary buffer but you might be able to get away with it, the bigger point here is if you have never used a rotary buffer before then you're in for a steep learning curve when it comes to removing swirls and polishing paint.

In most all cases, you don't create swirl free finishes using a rotary buffer and a cleaner/wax, you may remove the swirls you've shown in your pictures but you'll likely remove holograms.

You might want to start out just applying the ColorX by hand and put a little passion behind your pad and work your way up to using the rotary buffer.

I have read two threads about the two kind of machines. I think I should keep learning here and practice on some unwanted hood.

Thank you Mike Phillips. May you have a nice day.

That's actually a great idea and the best way to learn how to use a rotary buffer. Practice and learn on something that's not important to anyone. Once you get some experience and bring your skill level up to a higher degree, then try on a single panel on your own car, for example the deck lid or a fender.

Get the process down for successfully creating a swirl free finish on on panel and once you get this success down, move on to the entire car.

I have met many people in my life that have done just this.

Also, a lot of enthusiasts will just tackle a section at a time until they have finished the entire car. by this I mean instead of compounding the entire car and then polishing the entire car and the waxing the entire car, they will compound a fender, then polish this same fender and then wax this fender and get just the fender perfect. On another day they will tackle a hood and repeat the process until the entire car is done and then all they have to do is maintain all their hard work.

That's what I am doing Mike! Don't have time to do it all at the same time, so I'm doing each section each night after work.
                    That way I'm not beat!!
