  • About to detail for the first time :O

    Hey guys, im new here
i have a black 97 cobra that needs to be washed and detailed. I got a few items yesterday and I was just wanting some input if this is an ok lineup to use:

Meguiars gold class wash (with a microfiber sponge)

ScratchX (should i apply all over or just in spots? and should i just apply with applactor pad?)

gold class wax (applied with the pad it comes with and then just wipe off with my microfiber towel? :/)

hot rims all wheel cleaner (on chrome rims... is this ok?)

    hot tire shine

    Does that sound ok?

Those are a good start, but you may need some other items to get the most out of your detail, and maintain the car in the future. I assume you are working by hand?

Give these few articles a read first, so you can see what a full detail would look like, and products that can be used, and then be sure to ask any other questions, so we can fill in the gaps..

ScratchX can be noted as an "easier said than done" product. That is, simply wiping it on then wiping it off will not do much for the look of your car's finish.

ScratchX requires you to work it into the finish in order to break down the diminishing abraisives, which work away a small bit of your paint's finish in order to level it out and remove the defect. Applications for scratchX include swirls, small scratches, oxidation, and etching.

Work it in an area of 6x6 inches usually, I think, for awhile, then remove.

i work in larger section 1x1 and i work it in different direction and apply it 3 or 4 times.
