  • How to clean chrome wheels

I had a question about cleaning chrome wheels. I just got back from a tour in Iraq and my wheels have oxidation and grime on them. I washed the vehicle and the grime and oxidation are still there. Whats the best way to clean them. I tried Nxt Generation Metal Polish to no avail. Should I try Never Dull or a fine grit sand paper ? Im at wits end. I have been detailing my vehicles for awhile but never owned chrome wheels. Before I went to Iraq I washed my vehicle every 2 weeks and used Nxt Generation Metal Polish on the wheels and all was well. No problems what so ever for over a year and then I deployed and now that Im back, the wheels look so bad. Any advice I could get would be greatly appreciated. Im just trying to restore my chrome wheels to their shining glory. Thanks for the help.

If you tried NXT All Metal Polysh with no success, NeverDull will be the same. It sounds like the wheels might be clearcoated. Metal really doesn't oxidize, it forms rust. You're going to have to treat the wheels like a painted panel. Try using Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner Step 1 a few times. It's one of the most effective ways to remove minor to moderate oxidation from paint by hand. If you apply it 5-6 times with no success then a machine it going to be required. Wet sanding should be your last option. Try the least aggressive method first before anything else.
