  • Lots of various things...

    Hi

I just recently discovered that I can actually get (some) Megs products here in Denmark, which combined with my car being mostly done exterior-wise (total respray 2 months ago), reignited my detailing spark.

Anyway, enough of the intro and on to the topic:

Back on showcargarage, there was this great thread listing all the common abbreviations... Is it possible you could revive it? It was a really awesome tool for a n00b like me.
Example from Autopia: "Now after some love with my PC, DACP, SFP, SEC, and S100,[...]"

I'm thinking I'll probably get a PC sometime in the future, but the 7424 obviously won't be the right choice due to the 110/240V difference and inability to get it serviced.
The only other real possibility I've found (that isn't adjustable from 5000-12000opm or similar) is the Makita BO6040, which is adjustable from 1600-5800 opm, with a switch for forced rotation and a 6" velcro backing plate. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it alright to use 6.5" pads on it, or should I use 8" pads?
Unfortunately MSRP on it here is ~$650 so it definitely won't be for a while. Need chrome wheels first.

What exactly is the "two bucket system"? I did a search, but couldn't really find anything...

My `want' list looks something like this:
    GC Wash
    Quik Clay
    #81
    #26
    Medallion PPP
    GC Bug/Tar remover
    GC Leather C&C
    Hot Shine Tire Spray
GC Instant Wheel Cleaner (OK for chrome wheels?)
    Pads, towels, mitts, etc, etc.
I'd also like to get the NXT line, but I'm not sure it has arrived in europe yet... I'll find out when I call Megs Europe tomorrow though ^_^

    Hope it looks alright.

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

It sounds like we need a Keeper of the Acronyms List" person.

An Acronyms list is handy, any takers?

By the way, ShowCarGarage is hosted on the same server that Meguiar's Online is hosted on and won't be back up until David Bynon has time to reload the last back-up.

The two bucket washing method is simply using two buckets.

One bucket contains your wash solution, the other bucket contains clean water.

First dip your mitt into the wash solution and wash your car. Then rinse your mit int the fresh water to remove accumulated dirt. Then re-dip your wash mit back into the wash solution bucket to gather up your soap and repeat the washing process.

The idea is to hopefully release a lot of the dirt you gathered into your mitt into the rinse bucket so you don't drag it across your finish with subsequent pass with the mitt against your finish.

Another good idea is a Grit Guard, I highly recommend these things.

*sigh* Once again I over-estimate the cleverness of something ;-)
I should have been able to figure that out...

        Thanks ^_^
