  • A question on APC

Hi all my first post in this wonderful forum. been reading thru the posts the past week and i found them to be very useful and enlightening.

Okie now i got a quick question abt Meguiar's APC. Can i use it on the car's painted surface? I plan to use it to remove tar spots and grime etc from the side skirts and rear fenders.

Will i damage the paint? Wat ratio should i mix it in?

For the enigine bay i plan to use 4 parts water 1 part APC.
For interior (dashboard etc) i plan to use 10 parts water 1 part APC.

Wat about the car's paintwork? 10:1 ok?

    Thanks all

ps: i know there are other specific products i should use for the tar spots etc but since the APC is like such a big bottle tot i could find more uses for it

to the forum. I used it on the door jams and thats painted and it didn't do nothing so i think it would be ok. But i don't know if it would do anything to the outside since i never tryed it. Maybe someone can chime in if they tryed it.

        The answer is, be careful!

Undiluted it's a very strong stuff, don't forget the pH is 13.1.

Whether the application of APC is appropriate or dangerous, depends on the dilution level. A too high portion of APC in the dilution could dull or stain the paint. APC is not a beauty product for paint, it's a cleaner/degreaser.

A dilution of 64:1 can be used to de-wax cars, so it can be used on paint. But if you're using it to de-wax paint, the next step would be restoring the finish with polishing and waxing.

        Hope this helps

Well, wheelwells, patio furniture, maybe vinyl floors around the house.. Works pretty good to scrub white sneakers clean from grass and mud... car floormats and a scrub brush... clean pedals...

Were you able to pick up a foaming head sprayer with it? Thats pretty handy.

Once i showed my mom her old wagon after using APC + on it, she used it all for cleaning the kitchen. Refrigerator, conv. oven, floors, window sills, etc etc.

I did get a foaming head spray bottle but not from Meguiar.

Been raining like mad these past few days so have yet to try the APC to clean up the engine bay.

While I was at it i got myself a gold class trim detailer too...

pretty excited abt the whole affair
