Ok, I will admit it, I hate cleaning glass. It is my least favorite thing to do when cleaning a car. So, do you guys have any tips? Also, is there a way to remove hard water spots from windows?
Well, you can clay glass after washing, which might help with your spots. Then use the Nxt Glass cleaner. Remember you generaly need less of the Nxt Glass Cleaner than you think. One or two squirts can do a side window. Just spray on, or on a cloth, wipe clean, then dry with a dry cloth.
If claying doesnt work, you can do a search on here for the article "Glass Deep Cleaning:. It involves using #4 by hand to clean windows.
It is best to clean glass when it is not damp out, and not in direct sunlight. But I have found avoiding the dampness to be most important.
Dont worry so much about the product that you use on the windows (I use nxt glass). Worry more about having a plush microfiber towel handy; a brand-new-out-of-the-washer type clean towel. On windows its very easy to show the other crud that comes off the towels, so essentially your just spreading around the dirt from a dirty towel if you get my drift.
Ideally you want to have the towel folded up a few times, use one side to clean/wash the window, then flip it over for a final wipe. When you move on to the next window, use a new side of the towel. This process will ensure spotless windows (dirt wise).
As for the water spot removal, im still searching for that solution as well.
Thanks guys. I just washed two cars (BMW 330 and Cayenne Turbo) and made extra care in trying out some of these techniques. They definitely seem to work for a streak free look. However, I still need to figure out something for those pesky water spots .
