  • Reformulated M02 in Canada

    Hi guys,

Yup, it's my first post. Been hanging around for a while though; learned more about detailing in a few months than the 3 years I spend randomly browsing the net before!

I have a question regarding the new M02 that came out mid-05. I searched around and found a bunch of threads, but none addressed this question:

Does the Canadian version contain the new formula?

I know some products made of the Canadian market are labeled differenetly because of the bi-lingual issue. I look at the back of a bottle of M02 and it does not look like either the old US bottle or the new US bottle (I think Mike posted them before).

The Canadian version still only mentions "rotary buffer", but not "rotary only". And there's no Application Method section on the label either.

I asked the store manager (Lordco, kind of like NAPA) and he swears the warehouse only carries stuff made this year, as they sell over 1000 M02s a year.

Meguiars Canada doesn't have any usefull info either.

    Any ideads guys?

    Thanks!

Welcome. Nice to see someone from Hundred Mile in the forums. I used to live out that way. Beautiful part of the country.

            Thanks sneek.

Yes, I've seen that picture by Mike a few times, but our Cdn version don't look like either one of them.

Our back labels are top English and bottom French. It doesn't have the "Method of Application" line at all. I don't have a link but I'll describe it the best I can:

The red message at the top seem to match the old one, which mentions the word "rotary buffer". But, the barcode is on a white background, and the "RX" symbol is there, but at the very bottom to the left of the barcode.

In other words, it's a mix of both!

I'll print out that picture and bring it to Lordco to see if I can note any further differences.

Thanks. I'm only here till the end of the year, then I'll be back in Van city.

Hate the roads up here though. My flawless black paint picked up 20 stone chips in one winter! (the sand and gravel they dump on the highways ****).

The water is also very hard. Just washed my truck, looks worse than before (don't have any fancy drying towels yet, but I think I'll pick up a leaf blower)

It has been fluctuating b/w 1800 - 2000 for the last few years.

Yep I miss the guys at Peter Skene Ogden, man lots of memories from that area. And yes the roads are terrible I came up to show my wife the area last summer, and we camped at the little campground near the waterfall. The dust was insane, i went through 4 bottles of Final Inspection in 3 days. Took her out to where I used to live on Mahood Lake Road and it was the first time she had ever seen a cattle guard. and yep picked up a couple rock chips.

Well, I just called Meguiars' helpline, the tech told me all Meguiars products use the same formula, regardless of the country.

And since the store is absolutely sure all their products are freshly ordered in 06, it seems like this is only a labeling issue; the Canadian versions are still using the old labels perhaps?

I e-mailed Meguiars Canada just to be sure; waiting for their response.

I just purchased a new bottle of M02 at Canadian Tire. It has a different smell than the bottle of M02 I purchased 2 years ago. It has The RX logo on the label on the back of the bottle. The label indicates the product is for use with rotary buffers only.

I tried using it by hand on my 97 Jaguar XJ6 and it gave me a shine I would rate 8/10. A 10/10 shine was then achieved using M09 by hand. Based on this I believe the M02 I just purchased is indeed the new formula.
