  • 2004 Civic needs a touch up. What to use?

    Well,
I'll be ordering a bunch of stuff from ADS soon (actually in a few weeks since I need the extra money for my cruise). Our 04 Civic is in decent shape, but I was QD'ing it and noticed some water spots on the roof and a minor, but very longggg, scratch. I figure Scratch X would take care of it, but I need to know what to use for the minor water spots. Is #80 with a DA too much? Is there anything milder with a little bit of cleaning power so I can do the whole car with?

80 isnt to harsh..with a polishing pad and speed 4.5 - 5 for swirls or you can drop the speed down to 4 and use less pressure i do it at least 2wice a year ...its a good prep, if you want you can get a cleaner wax, but i like 80...are you gonna do this by machine or hand, if by hand + the whole car + removing waterspots = eat your wheaties..i wouldnt use any 80 series unless your scottwax if it were by hand i would use the deep crystal system, and the isolated areas with deeper defects use scratch x
...i will tell you from personal experience removing water marks by hand is near impossible and to do it by machine can be difficult as well..if this is a daily driver and you are planning to keep it for a while, dont completely remove the water marks but make them less noticeable..sooner or later they might return and for daily driver making them look good but not pristine will save you alot of time

It's a DD. I'll be using my G100 as soon as I get my new products. So you think 80 all over isn't too hard on a somewhat new finish with minor defects?

i dont believe so, depending on the color. if you prefer you can use something less pressure...the pc really doesnt do much unless you use alot of pressure you will see this when you try to remove you water marks. water marks tend to be alot deeper than you think what color is your car...what other products do you plan on picking up..me personally, i use the 80 series for the pc and dont really use scratch-x..it works great by hand which leads me to believe it is as harsh or harsher than #80 but that is just me...i wonder if any other #80 users will chime in if you feel #80 is to harsh you can use a cleaner wax

It's Magnesium Metallic (medium/ dark grey). I plan on picking up some #83>#80>and some NXT paste. I've never used any of this stuff and my How to use the PC on DVD is on the way

BTW, where in NJ are you?

Be sure to give these threads a look over just in case you havent yet... And even order the Detailing DVD that Mike and Richard made for PC use. It gets very good reviews.

Thanks for the offer man. I knew about the class and there were spots avail, but I'll be getting a tan in the Bahammas that week. Sorta ***** I'm missing the class. I REALLY wanted to go. I hope they do another NJ class soon. Well, I'm gonna do a mad huge order from ADS after the cruise and my DVD is on the way. I'm looking forward to cleaning up our 04 Civic and really working the finish on our other 96 Civic.
