  • Gold Class or NXT wax..Help me choose please!

Hey all..I've been reading this forum like a hawk, its great! What do you guys recommend GC or NXT?
My car is black, a daily driver and sits outside 8hrs a day 5days a week (in the sun) while I'm at work. It is garaged whenever I'am at home though. They both look like great products..I just don't know which I should use.

I can not compare GC to NXT as I have not used GC but for what its worth, NXT Tech Wax is sold as Meguiars longest lasting wax so maybe that might help in your decision. Probably more a personal preference thing, but NXT does rock on black!

Welll....GC is absolutely awesome, Imo-BUT I hear it's not as long lasting. I say that because I use it on my garaged show car and it lasts no problem in that enviroment. My DD is done in NXT because of the long lasting part. My show car is a dark color (green), the DD is yellow. I tried NXT on the greeen one, and didn't like it as well as the GC. I was topping the NXT with the GC, but then they reformulated the GC and I think it does what I want by itself (clayed, cleaned & polished first of course). I find it "deeper" on the dark color-I couldn't see that much of a difference on the yellow. I get a lot of complements on my car-including someone who actually argued with me that my car was not actually the color it was (it's a stock factory color-Electic Green, and the person said they had a car in the same color and it couldn't be the same color because thiers didn't look as shiny & deep) so I stand by GC for dark colors all the way!

I also really like GC for dark colors -- it creates a really nice pop effect. I haven't tried NXT, however.

I've been using Gold Class for years. It's awsome. I did pick up a bottle of NXT liquid wax this past weekend. I'm planning on trying it out this weekend with my PC. I, like you have been reading many posts to see what people think and there are definetly alot of people out there that like the product. I say give it a try.

For what its worth, I would recommend #26 instead of GC

Thanks for input folks!!...Please keeping jumping in with your experiances and thoughts. As for #26 I'll look into that..haven't really came across it yet. I do want something that will stand up to the heat and sun, we have here in S.cal.

I've used Gold Class since it first came out. I remember it as really popping the color--bright red, on my '97 Trans Am when I changed over from Medallion--which was terrific, btw, but the GC was a definite improvement. I've used it on my 2000 WS6, as well. Then the NXT came out, so I had to try it. Frankly, while it is certainly very good, I don't see any improvement over the Gold Class. As to how long it lasts, machts nicht to me, as the T/A is regularly waxed and babied--always garaged, no rain or other bad weather. I guess I don't see the $6 a bottle improvement, from a practical point, nor the end product improvement from a subjective point of view. Not a knock, and other colors, e.g., black, may have a completely different experience.

I just hope I can make up my mind by this weekend.. the detail bug has bitten me bad. My new job has given me plenty of free time to mess with my car every weekend. This will be my first time clay baring the car as well!

My Cadillac STS is a deep, pretty dark, blue. While the NXT wax looked pretty good, the last time I tried a first coat of #21 and then topped with #26 (the next day). It's a much ???? richer look that I really like a little better.

You'll get great results either way-just make sure you clay, paint cleaner, polish then wax. Microfiber towels will be your friend.

My stang (I clay, use step one then two of the deep crystal system-paint cleaner, polish-then two coats of GC)

I like #21 topped with NXT Paste. This gives maximum depth of gloss along with great durability.

I agree with RamAir you can't beat # 21 and NXT

I used the polish and NXT. As I said, it came out very nicely, but I don't see the improvement over polish and GC. Just my 2 cents.
