    you need to see first:

what your goals are or what you want to achieve?
what is the problem with your car/paint?
what will you be using? machine? hand?

    do you have any pics?

has the car been long neglected?

          can you post some pics.

i'd first start by reading some info on some of this stuff.

          The 5-Step Paint Care Cycle.

          Step 1 Wash

          Step 2 Clean

          Step 3 Polish

          Step 4 Protect

          Step 5 Maintain

          The Swipe Test

How to tell when a Meguiar's wax is ready to remove - The Swipe Test

          are they swirls only?

          any deep scratches?

          or just paint transfer?

you can if its not that bad go for:

          1) Wash
          2) Clay
          3) Wash
          4) DC 1
          5) DC2
          6) NXT Wax of 2 coats
          7) and some people add a seal on this of #26

if you post some pics then it might help.

there are more abrassive products for the swirls.
