Hi all...
First, I'd like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions on my girlfriend-induced "Scotch Brite Debachle." The ScratchX worked like a charm and now I'm hooked on Meguiar's.
I've got a new car on the way...2007 Toyota Camry XLE in Magnetic Gray. It'll be here in a few weeks, and in the meantime I want to make sure I've got everything I need (including a game plan) to keep my new car looking as good as possible. (By the way, I'll give this forum the credit for the great trade in value the dealer gave me on the Altima! They didn't find a single scratch!)
Anyway, I've done a bunch of searching on here and read most of the "key" articles..."5-Step Paint Care Cycle", "Suggested Products for Taking Care of a New Car", etc. The piece that I can't seem to find is what products, specifically, go with some of the five steps.
Here's my initial plan, open to suggestions. I'll be doing this all by hand (at least in the short-term), so please keep that in mind as you make suggestions:
1. Wash - NXT Generation Car Wash
2. Cleaning / Prep - Quik Clay Detailing System w/ NXT Speed Detailer
3. Polishing - Need some help here
4. Protecting - NXT Generation Tech Wax
5. Maintaining - NXT Generation Spray Wax
I've got all the goodies, too...Water Magnetst, Microfiber cloths, NXT Insane Shine Tire Spray, NXT Tire Cleaner, Versa Angle brushes, applicator pads, etc.
So, I guess I'm asking for some help on the Polishing stage, and a little on the Cleaning / Prep stage if I'm light on that. I have ScratchX and ColorX, but I get the feeling that these aren't for regular use, but more of "specific" applicators.
Finally, a even more newbie question on the order to wash the car. Can someone point me to some basic notions about what first / second / third, etc? That is, tires / wheels first, then roof, hood, trunk, sides, windows, door sills, etc. Or am I way off? (I can't seem to get into the "Washing the Car with the Two-Bucket Method" post that everyone links...says I'm not authorized. If this info is contained in that post, can someone summarize or copy / paste it into their reply?
Thank you in advance for everything!
Jack
