  • did something terrible

need some input i got chrome wheels on my 2006 f150 pick up, today i decided to wash my truck as i am at work, anyways we got this stuff u use to bleach whitewall lettering on tires and use it for grout in bathroom walls, i made a terrible mistake didnt read the freakin label and applyied some to my tires so the lettering would look nice and white, i was out of bleache white, okay and noticed my chrome wheels looked stained like a bunch of blue streaks down the rims im sick to my stomach now, i went back and looked at the label it contains hydrochloric acid. im not at home but tommorrow i will try to post pics any info of what i could do or anything i could try, i hope i just didnt ruin my wheels. any help would be appreciated i know it was a very stupid thing to do but i need some needed help.

    Thanks Jeremy

Chrome is a pretty tough coating and very impermeable, the first thing I would try is get some NXT All Metal Polish and see if this will restore the clarity and brilliance to the chrome.

Test in an inconspicuous area first.

I can't say that I've ever seen a tire or wheel cleaner stain chrome, at least not in a way that it couldn't be cleaned off.

    Interesting.
