  • #4 as a glass polish?

    Hello everyone!

Just curious, is using #4 as glass polish okay for glass that is in good condition? The reason I ask is in the thread listed below, Mike suggests using it on glass that has been damaged by acid rain. But what about glass in good condition?

Thanks in advance for your input.

    Cheers,

Are you trying to remove water spots or a defect? I ask this because you only need to use this kind of product on glass that has a defect. Example, water spot maybe a stain or bird dropping something in that line.

You could use #4, but it is a lot of effort for no reason on clean glass. You can get the same shine from some glass cleaner and RainX.

Minor water spots, nothing more than that. What product(s) can you suggest?

NXT Glass Cleaner works well and is my first choice....

My backup is Stoner Invisglass.......rarely do I run our of NXT.

On my brand new vehicle, two weeks old, even after a wash with nxt, and after using nxt glass cleaner with a microfiber, i can still see traces of water spots on my front windshield and it bothers me. If anything, i prefer my windows to be spotless at all times and i like them clean, but streaks and water spots of the like erk me...i'll try another pass of nxt glass cleaner, but otherwise im in the same boat of trying to rid them off my windshield.

I tried the glass cleaner at first on my car. After that, I moved onto claying the glass. That did the trick for me.

If a hearty dose of glass cleaner and claying dont work, then I think it might be on to #4 for you.

                Hi:

Will the #4 do the job by hand? I was under the impression that it would take #4 and a rotary to really get the job done.

Reason I ask is that the water spot problem I have is on the side glass; so getting to it with a rotary is really not practical.

                Regards,

Yes, the #4 on glass trick is meant for hand or rotary. A PC wont work. Give the thread Jon posted a read over, there is all kinds of info in there.

I have used #4 by hand many times on glass, works very well. Takes a little more product than you might think but it works quite well. I have always been a fan of "Glass Polishes", since they(glass polishes) are so hard to find #4 takes easily on the task.

Good luck. Got a brand new car that did not sit on the lot and I use all Meguiar's stuff and microfiber and clay and this and freakin that and water spots on all my glass will never, ever go away. If someone figures this out they can make a fortune.

I have used NXT metal polish and Mother's Mag and Al. polish on windows before. I don't know if its recommended, but they have always came out perfect so...

                              Hi:

Thanks for the info on the metal polish. I had considered doing this but thought that it would not work.

I am going to try the NXT Polysh later today on a small test spot and see how it works on my glass problem.

                              Thanks again.
