  • Turtle Wax???

Not to inquire about another companies products on Meg's site but has anyone seen or heard the hype about this new Turtle Wax Ice stuff? Has anyone tried it or know anyone who has? I will never go any other way but Meg's but am a little curious about this one just to see what its all about

I was detailing on saturday and some student's father came up to me and asked me about the Ice wax. Said that it doesnt leave a white residue or whatever. I told him it sounded like a bad idea, because you would have a hard time wiping your car down. Plus, I'm sure whatever it left behind would stick out like a sore thumb on a black car.

So I looked around for reviews online. Apparently it is silicone-heavy, and smears like crazy. Rainbowish smears, from what they said. It is only good on trim, from what they said, not paint.

          ICE.................

My brother got a sample of Ice and I used some this weekend on a 2006 Lucerne, crimson pearl color. Very easy to apply, very thin and you have got to let it dry or it will smear. Hate to say this but really looks deep and makes all the plastic/rubber around door glasses look deep and black. There is NO residue or dust. Will see how it holds up. I'm sure Meguiar's has got something better.

            me too

I've also been a 10+ years 100% solid meguiars customer, and have never found anything even close to NXT.

I tried the ice, and I have to say, I like it. At least on a black vehicle, the gloss was deeper with much less work. I am not even attempting to vouch for durability, but I detail at least once a week.

It blackened my plastic in the few places I had missed the NXT and turned it white.

I get less water spotting after driving in a rainstorm or on wet dirty roads after rain.

On rock speck type imperfections on the front bumper, instead of getting filled with white NXT, they just disappear.

No need to watch the cracks, rubber seals or anything. Fast on, fast off. I have used it in direct sun with no problems removing. The car was hot.

I hope meguiars can prove something bad about it for our sake of having good meguiars products continually coming out, because I never though I'd give anything other than meguiars a second thought. I know it has petroleum distillates which aren't all that great to be getting all over your hands, I'd guess.

This ice stuff has _no_ cleaning properties, so I still use NXT anytime I have something I'd consider a contaminant on the car.

For people who have a black vehicle and detail at least once a week a lot of the year, I can't say why you wouldn't like it. We've been talking about it Over Here too.
