Bought a custom chopper last year and like cars to all of you it is my BABY. Put a coat of Gold Class Wax on it last year about 60 days after I bought it since I was told to wait 60-90 days before waxing it. Stored the bike all winter in temp controlled storage since I live in Michigan.
Got the bike out about a month ago store it in the garage and cover it. I noticed that there are some very light fine scratches on the tank and fenders. Around here there can be a lot of semi-truck traffic so it is impossible not to get dusted by the occasional truck and car.
I want to start the season off right by getting and keeping the bike at damn near show quality shine. Want to remove the old wax and start with a fresh, clean slate.
Plan on starting with a wash then scratch x, then clay, then polish, then wax.
Bike is DARK blue metallic.
Was told NOT to use any silicone based waxes on the paint.
Am I on the right track with my detailing plan?
How do I know if a wax is silicone based?
What will offer tough protection without sacrificing deep, dark, show shine?
Help me out here....
