  • #21 looses slickness fairly quick?

I am fairly new to #21, so those of you who use #21 regularly... do you find that it looses its slickness rather quick? It still looks great but seems the slickness should last longer that it did.

I am still not 100% sold on #21 as I like NXT so well!

I'm noticing that too on mine. I have used it one time. Looks good but not as slick. Though mines sits outside under an oak tree.

I noticed that too.and I use alot of #21.But even though the slickness disappears the protection is there a long time.Far as I can tell 4-6months average. After using 21, NXT takes a backseat on all my details. The downside is 21 comes in 64oz.bottles which is alot for the DIY.

well here is the arguement with the 21 right.

it lots long in terms of protection but fades quickly in terms of sleek.

so which product do you get the best of both worlds with.

most people use 21 as a sealer after a NXT or Gold Class or whatever wax right?

can you use 26 instead of 21 or does 26 to be used where you use NXT/Gold Glass?

Yes, I found #21 to be one of those LSP's that loses its slickness quickly as well, and that was on my garage queen.

from what i've learned and i'm still a rookie type guy,

i always thought you put 21 or 20 after the NXT wax b/c they'r eboth like a Polymer Sealant.

some people though will use 21 or 20 and then use 26.

i will say its alot of personal perference though and i'm sure the pro's on here will and can help you more and other will give different opionions and methods etc...

                GOODLUCK!!!

For me, #21 keeps its slickness longer than any other LSP, including Medallion (MPPP) and NXT.

I get the best results applying 2 coats of #21 (allowing cure time) then one coat of NXT Paste. The surface is so slick from the #21 that the NXT Paste is even easier to apply than usual.

I give credit to Tim for this strategy. It looks incredible on his V10 so I decided to try it.

One other thing. The #21 will keep it's slickness longer if a polish or cleaner polish like #80 is used first.

I will give the #21/NXT Paste a try next time.

I always use a Cleaner prior to NXT or #21.

Personally, I'm not at all disappointed by M21. I've only dabbled with NXT, so I can offer nothing in comparison between it and M21.

M26 always felt the same way; that is, slickness wasn't the same after the first wash. Professionally, I used it on 1000s of cars, some that I'd never see again and some that were in my shop at least weekly. Each wash does remove a bit of that sacrificial coating (LSP) that we use to protect our paint. The slickness is the first thing to go, but the stronger protection remains.

                      ......
Someone here used to have a quote in their signature that said something to the effect of "If you want your vehicle to have that just-waxed feel to it, wax it." This just came to mind while reading the thread.
                      ......

I do think M21 lasts a great deal longer than M26. Last week I saw one of my first M21 applications from Nov. 1st and it still feels smooth enough and does sheet water better than the non-applied areas.

How are you guys comparing and testing this wax or any wax for slickness?

Are you feeling the paint and going by memory?

Or are you taping off a control section and doing nothing to it and then waxing the areas around it and then comparing the waxed section to the un-waxed section?

I'm just feeling the paint and by memory.

I figured that and actually knew that.
