  • Black??????

Hi been a lil while since on car show time! Finally found a graphic guy aftertwo months of looking and being screwed over by another one bascially wasted alot moneyon crappy work! Went to my first show in VA got first place hey!
Now my problem I have a black F250 and I can't seem to get the truck to be clean I have used Gold Class and NXT on her and After I am done waxing it looks like it has streaks?!??!?!
And my 24' car trailer is enclosed and black and I am having lots and lots of problems with it streaking too?!?!?

Can anyone please help I want them to look as good as my car when I go to a show!

    Thanks
    Angie

Streaking usually occurs when too much product is being applied, not enough time was given for it to completely dry, or its too hot and humid. If you're applying the waxes by hand I'd recommend a nickel size of product on the pad or towel being used. Spread the product as far as you can and move on to the next section.
This ensures a thing coat, making it take less time to dry and avoiding streaking, smearing, and wipes off easier. Once you've covered the entire vehicle allow the wax sit for 20-25 minutes to completely dry or you can conduct the swipe test. To perform a Swipe Test, take your index finger and swipe it across the film of wax or paint protectant on your finish. If your finger wipes away the dried residue and the surface below is shiny, then the wax is ready to be removed. If it smears give it more time.

Ok, I will try that next time! Thank you for the advice! Next question I have is what if it seems too hard to wipe off did I leave it on too long!? And it seems that the wax don't last as long on the truck as it does my Storm & Beretta that is out in the weather and driven all the time! Is this because of the black?!?

If it's difficult to wipe off you're probably using too much product. As far as durability, I don't think the paint color has anything to do with it. I think it's in your application/technique. Black will show imperfections more, so you may "screw up" on another color and not notice it, but it will stand out on black paint

Should I do it by hand then? I use the polisher or by hand I don't mind doing it either way! I know if I do it by hand then I use less product!

          Thank you for your advice!

Actually, using a PC will enable you to spread the product more. But you can go by hand or polisher. Just be sure to put a thin coat. Also, it is recommended that you apply 2 coats of wax. Put the first coat on, perform the swipe test, wipe it off. 12-24 hours later, repeat with another coat.. This will ensure uniform application and will help get rid of the swirls.

Just remember: THIN COATS. When I first thought I was applying a thin coat, I was way off. You'll be amazed at how thin you can spread the wax.

I found that you need to let the product dry completely. If you notice areas where you have this streaking, try some QD. It can help.

I had notice that QD will take some of the streaks away. As long as this rain finaly stops I can actually get to clean my truck and trailer.

I have two black vehicles and the weather plays a role in streaking, Humidity can be a big cause of it, especially if I do 2 coats of LSP. I usually just take a microfiber towel or Quick detail pad and and lightly mist it with some QD and go back over the car.
