  • Factory Vinyl Stipes, giving me fits

I have an 03 Mach 1 and the factory vinyl striping on the hood and rockers are giving me fits. When I get wax on them they either turn white (on the rockers) where they have a texture or they streak and smear (on the hood) where they are smooth. Any suggestions?

    Hmmm....

Last weekend, there was a brand new Cobra at the Viper Detailing clinic that we applied the Tech Wax right over the vinyl stripes, it made them look better?

Results must depend on the type of vinyl?

Try wiping them down with a quick detailer. I think I have used M-1008 Plastic Polish on vinyl graphics with no problems. Gently apply the polish using a thin coat, the wipe off the excess with a clean, soft microfiber.

I used NXT w/ PC over the vinyl hood stripes and side stripes. Looks great. No problems with either.

what kind of wax are you using? i've read somewhere (either on autopia or one of the mustang mach boards) that you should only put a pure caranuba wax on the stripes. on my mach1, i used nxt on the hood stripe, being careful near the edges (don't want wax build up). as for the side stripes, i just did my best to avoid putting anything over them.
