  • dust / sand

Hi all - when I parked my car this morning everything was fine however when I came back from work, it seems that workers are taking down a building just on the corner where my car was parked. Dust and sand all over the place.

What would be the safest way to remove it so the paint doesn't get scratched (or to a minimum)? Just hose it off and then use the mitt and NXT?

Do you or does a buddy of yours have an air hose to gently blow this stuff off?

no, not that I know of but I've got plans to buy a compressor (always comes in handy).

Hose it off, then wash with some extra soap in the mix.

I wouldn't use the air hose as there wouldn't be any lubrication between the dry, moving sand and the dry finish.

I'd use a foamgun myself (there I go again...) but in the absence of that do as Murr1525 suggested- rinse it off with a gentle flow of water and use a *LOT* of soapy wash solution. Don't apply any pressure (with a mitt or something) until you get as much off as you can with other means. I'd even consider just dumping buckets of wash solution on the car a few times to try to flush it all away. The shampoo will lube and encapsulate, so let it do as much work (all by itself, with no mechanical agition from a mitt/etc.) as possible.
